Three Modules: One big experience

Dive into a deep watercolour experience. During the three weekend sessions, you will learn about colours and how to use them to illustrate and create abstract compositions. You will leave each session with new skills to enhance your watercolour creations.

For all colour fans

What colours can you mix to achieve the impact you am looking for?  Have you ever wondered why some colours always go well together? Why do sometimes mixed colours end up in mud?  If you ever had these questions, this watercolour course is for you.

Colour is a language, and as in most cases, you need to learn it to speak it. Let us guide you in your colour journey.

In “Eventually Everything Mixes”, Ame Binnara Kim will take you through the basics behind how colours are mixed, exploring colour types and mixes.

in “The Impact of Colour”, Andrea Figari will guide you to an extensive exploration of colour combination options to expand your colourful visual language. We will focusing on creating contrasts to achieve impact and covering several templates to create your own memorable colour combinations. This module will take inspiration from the colour teachings from the Bauhaus school of design, where masters like Johannes Itten, Paul Klee, Vassily Kandinsky and Gunta Stölzl used colour to express trailblazing imagery.

In “Fly like a Bird”, Yves Kervoelen will use the previous colour mixing and matching skills to teach you how to illustrate birds, as an exercise to see how an impactful colour mix can translate into your work.

Recommended Materials & Tools

You need only basic materials to participate. A well sorted colour palette, a couple of brushes and watercolour paper. You will find the recommended materials in each course.

You can also find limited edition Schmincke Watercolour palettes and watercolour sketchbooks in the GardeniaFair Etsy Shop

Online, live and direct

The “Mix, Match and Fly” watercolour course will take place using a live conference platform. Nothing to install, to download or register. Just click and we will be there.

The three workshops will cover 15 hours of live classes by the artists. We always have a pre-workshop technical session to help you set up your audio and video, so you can make the best out of your actual class.

During the course the Ame, Andrea and Yves will be sharing, painting and chatting live with you. You will have full access to them and be able to shar your work, get quick feedback and encouragement.

Practical Notes

You will also receive a set of notes, handbook or workbook tailored to each workshop, with a summary of the contents, some exercises to help you further explore after the workshop has ended.

Feedback

If you want to have a one-to-one feedback session or wish to have a more detailed question and answer session with any of the workshop artists, you can book this separately in each event.

Online, live and direct access

All You Need is a Phone, Tablet, or Laptop

No need to download any software, or register in any website. We send you a link, you click it and you are in.

Basic & recommended materials

Come with what you have. A basic 12 watercolour palette, a couple of brushes and watercolour paper will do the job in most cases. However, if you would like to explore colour in more depth, each artist provides a list of recommended materials for each of their workshops

Learn live session, practice later

We will do basic exercises while online. However, because watercolour painting often means painting and waiting to dry before continuing, we will also give you exercises to work at home on your own time.

Direct access to the artists

Make the most of this direct contact to ask questions about your own colour choices. The artists will be there for you during the live sessions to help you master colour to help you express what you want in your paintings.
