COPTIC BOOKBINDING WORKSHOP

This ancient bookbinding methodology, originating in Egypt and Ethiopia as early as the 2nd century, combines independent sections of papers, stitched together with a chain-like stitch which can be seen on the open spine. The book opens fully and lays flat and has hard covers.

You will learn how to fold and cut paper, use bookbinding tools to stitch the sections as well as cut and glue the covers.

Materials: You can choose among different thread colours for the stitches on the spine, as well as different decorative papers for the covers. Inside pages are blank, high quality paper. All materials and tools are included.

Final product to take home: An A5 book.

Duration: 3 hours, from 15 to 18.00h.
